Before
The body of the car was in pretty good shape. The floors and trunk were nice.
This quarter needed a patch. I butt-welded in a peice from an NOS 4-door quarterpanel. Using factory sheet metal for the patch ensured it would mate perfectly.
This side also needed a patch and had a good size dent. In this case I thought it would be better to replace the whole thing. Also having the quarter removed made it easy to access the wheel house and trunk filler panel for any repairs.
When installing a quarterpanel, always make sure the adjacent door is in place so you can check the door gap.
The best way to weld a patch or an entire body panel is too butt weld it. That way there is no overlap to trap moisture and rust. Also a good butt weld will be undetectable from either side. This panel will be welded up solid, in quarter inch increments so that it won't warp.
Now welded solid and ground smooth. It requires very little filler to smooth.
In primer, still needs to be blocked out.
From the inside there is no evidence the panel was replaced.
